Nothing happens when I press the dictation key

macOS requires three approvals for an app that types for you: Microphone, Accessibility (so it can paste the text), and Input Monitoring (so it can hear the hotkey). The app walks you through each on first launch, but if dictation stops working, especially after an update, it is almost always one of these three.

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Open each list (Microphone, Accessibility, Input Monitoring) and switch EaseMyPease on.
Quit the app completely (Cmd+Q) and reopen it. macOS often doesn't notice a new permission until the app restarts.

"No sound was recorded" or "couldn't transcribe"

If the Microphone switch in System Settings already looks on but this keeps happening, macOS may have granted that permission to an older copy of the app. macOS ties permissions to the exact app file, so an update can leave the switch looking on for a version that no longer exists. Resetting and re-granting fixes it:

Quit EaseMyPease (Cmd+Q).
Open Terminal and run: tccutil reset All com.kuldeep.EaseMyPease
Reopen the app and allow the permission prompts again.

Dictation doesn't work during a Zoom, Meet or FaceTime call

This was a real bug, fixed in version 0.2.2. Dictation now works during FaceTime, Zoom, and Google Meet calls. Update to the latest version and it should work (see “How do I update?” below, or open the EaseMyPease menu and choose Check for Updates…).

How do I update?

Version 0.2.0 and later update themselves. The app checks once a day and always asks before installing anything. You can also check any time from the EaseMyPease menu → Check for Updates….

If you're on an older version, automatic updates won't reach you yet, so download the latest build once from this site and install it over the old one.

The wrong microphone is used

Open the app's Settings and, under Microphone → Input, choose the microphone you want. Leave it on System Default to follow whatever microphone macOS is currently using, which helps if you switch between the built-in mic and a headset.

Which Macs does it run on? (Intel and Apple Silicon, macOS 15+)

macOS 15 or later, on both Intel and Apple Silicon. It is a universal binary, so there is nothing separate to choose for your chip.

iPhone: how do I add the keyboard?

Open the iPhone Settings app and go to General > Keyboard > Keyboards.
Tap Add New Keyboard and choose EaseMyPease.
Tap EaseMyPease in the list and switch on Allow Full Access. The keyboard needs Full Access only for Speak, so it can talk to the EaseMyPease app on your phone. It does not send what you type anywhere.
In any app, press and hold the globe key to switch to the EaseMyPease keyboard.

iPhone: how do I cancel my subscription?

If you subscribed on iPhone, Apple manages it. Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose EaseMyPease and tap Cancel Subscription. Refunds for these purchases are handled by Apple. If you subscribed on the Mac, cancel from the link in your Paddle receipt email or email us.

iPhone: how do I delete my account?

In the iPhone app, open Settings > Account > Delete account. This deletes your account for both the iPhone and Mac apps. It does not cancel an App Store subscription, so cancel that first in iPhone Settings (see above) if you have one.
